An elegant set of twelve Royal Worcester porcelain dinner plates produced expressly for R.H. Macy & Co., New York, circa 1925 - 1935.
Each plate features an ivory porcelain ground framed by an exceptionally ornate Neoclassical Revival border. Elaborate gilt scrollwork, laurel garlands, foliate arabesques, and delicate floral motifs encircle the plate, punctuated by pink and green rosette medallions and pale blue-gray fluted panels. Additional gilded garlands surround the open central well, creating a formal yet balanced presentation.
Measuring 10.5 inches in diameter, the plates are suitable as dinner or service plates. Their complete set of twelve, lavish decoration, and special-order Macy’s retailer mark make them particularly appealing for collectors of fine English porcelain and historic luxury tableware.
Marked beneath with the Royal Worcester crown and C51 device, “Made in England,” and “Made expressly for R.H. Macy & Co., Inc., New York.”
