Exceptional luxury gemstone carving of a cockatoo designed by renowned gem artist Manfred Wild for Emil Becker, masterfully executed in richly saturated rubellite tourmaline and mounted upon an elegant rock crystal quartz perch over a polished Russian black obsidian base.
Created in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, the world-famous center of fine gemstone carving, this extraordinary sculptural work was reportedly inspired by a similar example commissioned for the Sultan of Brunei. The cockatoo is intricately carved from a single monumental specimen of rubellite tourmaline weighing approximately 635.5 carats, displaying exceptional translucency, feather detailing, and vivid raspberry-red coloration.
The luxurious composition is further enhanced with finely crafted gold feet and crest, sparkling diamond-set eyes, and a contrasting indicolite tourmaline beak. The bird rests gracefully upon a frosted rock crystal quartz branch atop a polished Russian black obsidian base accented with a gold rim. The underside bears the monogram signature “EB” for Emil Becker.
