A powerful and architecturally striking Renaissance Revival carved walnut trestle table, dating to the late 19th century and executed in the grand manner of 16th-century Italian refectory tables.
The rectangular top features a bold carved border with repeating rounded bosses and deep gadrooning, lending strong sculptural presence and weight. The frieze is richly carved with vertical channeling and decorative panels, showcasing exceptional depth and craftsmanship.
The table is supported by monumental trestle-form ends centered by highly carved mythological figures. These sculptural supports appear to depict stylized female figure with expressive carved faces, terminating in paw-like feet. The carving is deep, dimensional, and masterfully executed, demonstrating strong Renaissance influence.
The central stretcher is supported by turned baluster elements and rests upon substantial carved feet, giving the piece both stability and dramatic visual impact.
