An exceptional pair of 19th century Royal Vienna porcelain cabinet plates, each finely hand-painted with classical mythological scenes after celebrated works by Angelica Kauffman (1741–1807). One plate bears the titled inscription "Bacchus und die Musen von Angelica Kauffmann", referencing the renowned Neoclassical artist whose compositions were frequently reproduced by Royal Vienna during the late 19th century.
Each plate features an exquisitely executed central scene surrounded by richly decorated borders embellished with extensive raised gilt ornamentation, jewel-tone enamels, and alternating classical motifs including swans, mythological creatures, floral designs, and stylized decorative reserves. The vibrant burgundy, cobalt blue, turquoise, and ivory borders are further enhanced with burnished gold accents, exemplifying the exceptional craftsmanship for which Royal Vienna became internationally renowned.
