A striking Italian Murano glass wall sconce or ceiling flush mount by Mazzega, circa 1970's, showcasing the bold sculptural glasswork associated with Italian Modernist lighting of the period.
The fixture features a substantial hand-worked square glass diffuser with softly undulating edges and a pronounced convex central form. Rich amber and honey-colored glass flows organically across a clear, finely textured ground, producing an abstract composition that changes dramatically as the fixture is illuminated. Four exposed metal fittings secure the glass and provide a restrained industrial counterpoint to its fluid, organic form.
Designed for versatile installation, the fixture may be mounted vertically as a wall sconce or horizontally as a ceiling flush mount.
