Impressive large-scale early 20th century Japanese Satsuma style floor vase richly decorated with traditional figural and floral motifs in finely detailed polychrome enamels with gilt accents. This elegant baluster-form vase features hand-painted scenes of elaborately dressed court figures set against a soft olive-green ground accented with flowering branches and stylized cloud forms.
The upper register and foot are adorned with intricate brocade-style geometric ornamentation in the classic Satsuma palette of iron red, cream, black, and gold. Decorative applied handles and sculptural mask-form feet further enhance the dramatic presence of the piece.
The underside bears a hand-painted character mark, consistent with Japanese export wares produced in the Satsuma tradition during the late Meiji to Taisho period. The scale and decorative quality make this vase a striking display object suitable for grand interiors, entryways, or Asian decorative arts collections.
