An elegant early 20th-century bronze sculpture titled Tanzende Salome by Victor Heinrich Seifert (1870–1953), depicting the biblical figure Salome as a graceful exotic dancer.
The semi-clad female figure is modeled standing in a poised, theatrical stance, her elongated form dressed in a flowing skirt gathered at the waist. Her delicately styled headdress and long braided hair frame the face, while one arm rests at her hip and the other is raised dramatically, holding a flowing element that reinforces the sense of movement.
The bronze is finished with a warm golden-brown patina, with subtle tonal variations emphasizing the contours of the figure, folds of the skirt, and finely modeled details of the hair and costume.
The figure stands upon an integral circular bronze plinth and is elevated on a substantial cylindrical variegated marble pedestal, further raised on a dark stone base. The contrast between the warm bronze and richly veined stone creates an especially refined presentation.
Signed “Seifert” on the lower portion of the bronze.
