Exceptional 19th-century French Sevres porcelain covered vase, richly decorated with hand-painted romantic scenes and lavish gilt bronze mounts. This elegant urn-form vase features a finely painted figural reserve depicting a young woman in a pastoral landscape accompanied by a cherub, executed in soft pastel tones against a delicate sky-blue ground.
The painting is signed Maxant, adding to the desirability and artistic significance of the piece. Intricate raised gilt decoration, scrolling foliate motifs, and jewel-tone lavender panels enrich the surface, while the ormolu mounts include finely cast handles, pierced collar, acorn finial, and a decorative tripod base with paw feet.
The reverse is equally ornate with elaborate gilt ornamentation and decorative cartouches, exemplifying the luxurious craftsmanship associated with the finest French decorative arts of the 19th century. A striking statement piece for collectors of Sevres porcelain, French antiques, and Belle Époque interiors.
