The substantial square chessboard is composed of alternating polished black dolerite and luminous white Kascholong opal squares, creating a striking geometric playing surface. A richly figured green stone border provides an elegant frame, complemented by finely applied decorative brass details.
The sculptural chess pieces are individually fashioned with malachite stone elements and gold-plated brass fittings, creating an elaborate jewel-like presentation characteristic of Russian decorative hard stone objects.
