An impressive 19th-century Peruvian sterling silver tea and coffee service, finely executed with elaborate Rococo-inspired ornament and offered together with its large matching serving tray.
The service comprises an extensive assortment of vessels designed for formal tea and coffee service, including a substantial hot-water or coffee pot on stand, additional covered pots, covered sugar bowl, creamer, waste bowl, and coordinating tray. Each piece is richly modeled with scrolling handles, foliate ornament, floral detailing, and gracefully shaped bodies.
The highly polished silver surfaces emphasize the sculptural quality of the set, while the ornate cast details reflect the European decorative influence found in sophisticated South American silverwork.
The large rectangular tray is bordered by an elaborate raised edge and scrolling handles, providing a substantial architectural base for the complete service.
