Elegant 19th century Carrara marble sculpture depicting Euphrosyne, one of the Three Charities (or Three Graces) of Greek mythology, traditionally representing joy, mirth, and celebration. This refined neoclassical figure is carved in luminous white Carrara marble and portrays the goddess in a graceful contrapposto stance with delicately draped classical garments.

Euphrosyne is shown standing with her weight gently shifted to one leg, her flowing chiton rendered with finely carved folds that reveal the naturalistic form beneath the fabric. Her hair is arranged in a classical coiffure, and her serene expression reflects the idealized beauty characteristic of neoclassical sculpture inspired by ancient Greek and Roman prototypes.

The sculptor demonstrates impressive craftsmanship in the treatment of the drapery, which cascades naturally around the figure and gathers elegantly at the waist. The figure rests on a circular marble plinth that complements the purity of the Carrara stone.

Sculptures of the Three Graces were highly popular subjects during the 18th and 19th centuries, particularly in the neoclassical period, when artists sought inspiration from antiquity and mythological allegory. Euphrosyne, symbolizing joy and merriment, was often depicted individually or alongside her sisters Aglaea and Thalia.
